Like most families, Christmas at the White’s is always a time to come together to enjoy the festivities and create more happy memories. But as the year draws to a close, it’s also a perfect time to pause and reflect on the past twelve months. And what a year it’s been for the Porky Whites family.
2016 saw the launch of our new Porky Lights – a low fat sausage that’s still tasty enough to light up the strictest of diets. And judging by the overwhelming demand, it seems you can’t get enough of them. But then, containing just 78 calories each, there’s no excuse not to tuck in.
We also hit new heights as we joined the Heart Breakfast team to watch our radio ad being performed live on the inaugural flight of the British Airways i360 observation tower – 450ft above Brighton beach.
Not that we had our head in the clouds for long as it was soon back down to earth to film the first of three heart-warming videos celebrating Autumn, Halloween and Bonfire Night.
But approaching Christmas, our crowning glory came at the British Sausage Week awards where we were presented with gold (we’re still awaiting the frankincense and myrrh). In fact, we struck gold twice – winning the coveted Gold Award in the ‘Best Speciality Sausage’ category for our Porky Lights and ‘Best Traditional Premium Sausage’ for our legendary Surrey Pork Sausages.
The British Sausage Week awards are our industry’s equivalent of the Oscars so it was a huge honour to receive such prestigious recognition.
The good news just kept coming in 2016 as new customers Costco and Co-op became the latest to stock Porky Whites Premium British Sausages. But 2017 promises even more exciting developments with some truly mouthwatering news coming in January. Rest assured, you’ll hear it first right here!
In the meantime, a huge thank you for your continued support, and from our family to yours – we wish you a merry Christmas and another full and happy new year!
If you can't stand the heat, get back in the kitchen! It’s time to delve into the depths of the garden shed and dig out the barbie. Yes, National Barbecue Week is upon us once more, and barbecuing is fast becoming something of a British tradition.
It’s time to get your sizzle on, because the hottest date in the culinary calendar is upon us. UK Sausage Week (30th October - 5th November) celebrates all that’s brilliant about the noble British sausage. Get some Porky Whites on the go and head outdoors to savour the occasion.
