Of course, every mum is one of a kind. Because as we all know, being a mum is the most important job on the planet.
So Mother’s Day is always a special occasion in the Porky Whites family. Because our mum, Susan White, really is Super Mum!
It’s a day when the whole White family come together to show our love and appreciation for the person who binds us all together with her selfless kindness, warmth and unwavering love.
In the 1980s, mum was quite literally the driving force behind our family business. She’d be the one driving the van around Epsom, delivering Porky Whites sausages to all the local pubs and cafes. As kids, we used to love joining her on the rounds during the school holidays, making sure all the locals got their favourite sausages.
Back in the day, as well as devoting herself to a growing family and business, she somehow found the time to organise discos for the local under-18s to give them somewhere to go and help keep them out of trouble on the streets. But that’s mum – always selfless, thoughtful and happy to go the extra mile to help others.
So it was no surprise when she was awarded an MBE in 1994 for all her charity work and ceaseless fundraising. Mum worked tirelessly for BDCI Butchers and Drovers charity, raising valuable funds for those in the meat industry who’d fallen on hard times. She even used to raise funds by organising huge barbecues in our garden for over 200 people. Mind you, we weren’t exactly short of sausages.
So this Sunday, the whole White family, including five grandchildren will all gather to show our love and appreciation for our very own Super Mum. It promises to be the mother of all roast dinners. Only this time it’ll be Daddy White doing all the hard graft!
