It’s funny how things come about. I usually spend time during the day thinking about food in one way or another. Mostly about what I am going to eat when I get home and how I can break up the monotony of the typically easy-to-resort-to meals. Sometimes though, the thought of a good ol’ sausage sarnie can’t be beaten.
Well, as I said, it’s funny how things come about. As I’m walking round my local supermarket to pick up my favourite Porky Whites Surrey Sausages, I noticed several packs of small brioche rolls on offer. Having seen quite a few recipes courtesy of The Food Network I thought I’d try making ‘sliders’. Must have been a good day as after picking up the rolls and some sliced smoked cheese, I found the Surrey’s were on offer too!
For the Surrey Sliders you will need the following:
1 pack Porky White Surreys
8 small brioche rolls (ASDA)
2 small red onions, finely sliced
2 tomatoes, finely sliced
8 slices, smoked cheese
Slice the brioche rolls in half and lightly toast on the cut side under a preheated grill. Then cook the sausages turning occasionally. Spread the brioche rolls liberally with ketchup and mayo and place a slice of the smoked cheese on the base. When the sausages are cooked, cut them in half and half again lengthways and place on top of cheese, dividing equally. Then add shredded lettuce, sliced onions and tomatoes and finally the brioche tops.
You can jazz these up with your choice of chutneys or sauces, like onion chutney or sweet chilli sauce etc. Enjoy!
