Porky Whites have been made aware of a recent product review feature published by Which? consumer magazine entitled “We tested 12 luxury pork sausages…the most expensive came last”.
In this review feature Which? conducted blind taste tests with a consumer panel group reviewing the best Traditional Pork Sausages available to buy with the sampling including both supermarket own brand and premium branded products.
Porky Whites were contacted by the Which? team on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 to confirm that our Porky Whites Premium Traditional Pork Sausages had been selected to be included in the taste test. We were obviously thrilled to be included and eagerly awaited the results which were scheduled to go live on 1st May 2026.
Upon reviewing the feature published by Which? we were alarmed to spot a series of errors in relation to the description and imagery of our Premium Traditional Pork Sausages, which had been mislabelled as our Premium Surrey Pork Sausages. This error was consistent across Which?’s website article and social media channels.
Porky Whites contacted the Which? Commercial and External Affairs team to alert them to this mistake and re-confirm which Porky Whites product Which? had blind taste tested. It was confirmed by Which? on 29th April that they had tested the Porky Whites Premium Traditional Pork Sausages and that they had updated their outbound comms to reflect this error. However, on the 1st May Porky Whites again contacted theWhich? Commercial and External Affairs teams that Which?’s social media posts were still making reference to the Premium Surrey Pork Sausages instead of the Premium Traditional Pork Sausages. No follow-up communication was received to acknowledge this mistake.
To confirm, Porky Whites are not challenging the result of the blind taste testing by Which?, we are however concerned at the lack of due care and respect shown to our products. Porky Whites Premium Traditional Pork Sausages are a lightly seasoned pork sausage and are aimed at individuals and children who prefer a plainer sausage flavour. For some, this flavour profile can be construed as ‘bland’, but we acknowledge that all consumers have different expectations and ambitions for their plain pork sausage.
What is of concern for Porky Whites, is that the ‘bland’ assessment published by Which? has been associated to Porky Whites Premium Surrey Pork Sausage – a sausage flavoured with real lemon, honey and sage. This sausage is anything but bland and has been the recipient of multiple product awards including voted the UK’s Best Pork Sausage and Supreme Sausage Champion at the 2024 UK Sausage Week Awards.
To compound matters on Monday 25th May 2026, Porky Whites was alerted to the recent Which? print edition (June 2026) which features the same “We tested 12 luxury pork sausages…the most expensive came last” review article, which once again contained the exact same product name error this time in black and white. Porky Whites has contacted Which? for an immediate comment and follow-up.
“This is a serious issue that everyone at Porky Whites is taking very seriously. Which? is a trusted UK institution that provides consumers with independent and fair reviews of an array of products. We are extremely disappointed that our family-owned and run business has been put in this position due to a clerical error.”
Francesca White – Porky Whites Managing Director
This error by Which? is hugely damaging for the Porky Whites product and brand reputation. Porky Whites has contacted Which? for further comment but has so far received no acknowledgement of our communication. Whilst we await further communication from Which?, Porky Whites will be exploring all avenues open to us in order to resolve this situation and seek satisfactory damages.
